With the exception of several sandy beaches, the beaches in the Dubrovnik area are either pebbly or rocky. The most popular sandy beach in the vicinity of Dubrovnik is the Šunj beach on the Island of Lopud. The Dubrovnik ACI Marina and many hotel beaches in Dubrovnik are marked with the Blue Flag, the most valuable ecological sign of unpolluted sea and beach, and of well-equipped and maintained beaches and marinas. A naturist beach is situated on the Isle of Lokrum, also called the island of love, which has many sheltered coves and places for lovers. The Copacabana beach is equipped with an elevator for disabled persons providing easy access to the sea.
